We are very bad at updating this page but quite good at updating the site with new recipes, books and links each month - you are best to subscribe to the mailing list (see above, monthly) if you want regular updates or just check the front page and books and links!

February 24th - once again apologies for not updating this page - it seems to get overlooked - Savoury Pancakes and Sweetcorn and Pepper Salad are new recipes today.

2003

December 29th - Whoops - been a bit forgetful about updating this page - new today we have Butternut Squash Soup - and a new book in the bookstore - Carol Vorderman's Detox Recipes.

October 25th - new recipe - Toasted Sandwiches- new books in the kids bookstore are 'Teen Angel' and 'Seal Surfer'.

September 27th - versatile recipe - Chocolate Fudge Icing or Soft Nutty Fudge

September 20th - new recipes - Cheesy Mashed Potatoes and No Cook Curry Sauce. 'Plant Based Nutrition' new from the Vegan Society is in the bookstore and we have a new 'Gadget Shop' selling vegan t-shirts, mousemats, bags etc. - you can customise our designs as much as you like, stick the kids ones on adult t-shirts, or even design your own from scratch. August 27th - new recipe - Date and Walnut Teabread. Ian Rankin's 'Black and Blue' is new in fiction

August 20th - Fruit Strudel

July 23rd - new recipes - Vanilla Sponge with chocolate chips and pecans and Minted Noodle Soup. Our holiday pics and links are up on the pictures page. 'Cooking by the Seasons - simple vegetarian feasts' has been added to the books page.

June 27th - Jacqueline Wilson's 'Double Act' is new to the - kidsbookstore

June 23rd - new recipe put up - Pear and Apple Upside Down Cake. '14 Day Summer Detox' and 'Creating Calm' are new to the bookstore

May 31st - added - Balmoral Pie

May 16th - new recipes - Vegetable Fritters and Apricot Flapjacks. 'Dead Souls' and 'Fairy Tale' are new in fiction and 'The Little Driver', 'Under the Stairs' and 'The Pumpkin Patch' have all been added to the kids books page.

April 13th - new recipes are Butterbean, Sage and Lemon Pate and Hot Chocolate Sauce for Ice Cream. 'Veggie Food for Kids' is new in the Bookstore and 'I Eat Vegetables' has been added to the veg kids books page.

March 23rd - new books in the bookstore are 'Vegan Passport' and 'Vegan Stories'.

March 11th - new recipes - Little Lemon Cakes and Spiced Carrot and Celery Soup.

February 28th - new recipe added - Mince and Dumplings

February 8th - 'Vegan Planet' and 'The PETA Celebrity Vegan Cookbook' are new to the Bookstore

January 29th - new recipes are Bradies and Potato Bake. 'The Animal Free Shopper' (new, 6th edition) is new in the Bookstore, 'Number Ten', 'A Trip to the Stars' and ' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' have been added to fiction.

2002

December 30th - new recipes - Spicy, Fruity Pasties, Lentil, Garlic and Rosemary Soup and Cucumber, Mint and Yoghurt Salad. 'Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron' added to the kids bookstore. 'The Optimum Nutrition Bible' added to the Bookstore

November 24th - Cranberry Ginger Bars recipe added.

November 23rd - two Lord of the Rings items added to the fiction section. 'Billywise' added to the kids bookstore. We have a great new festive recipe - Easy, Last Minute Christmas Fruit Cake

November 17th - new to the Bookstore is Professor Jane Plant's 'Your Life in Your Hands'. 'The Pop-Up Potty Book', 'Horrible Christmas', and 'Goodbye Mog' are new in the kids bookstore. A couple of Mog titles have been added to the Festive Children's Books

October 23rd - new recipes added - Stuffed Acorn Squash ,Yellow Split Pea Soup and Vegetable and Barley Soup. 'Birdie Halleluyah' and some Horrible Histories books added to the kids bookstore. Chocolate listings updated.

September 14th - recipes for Chocolate Brazil Nut Squares and Salad Lucoise added and 'Earth Angels' added to the Bookstore

August 27th - two new recipes - Mediterranean Roast Vegetables and Sweet potatoes in a coconut and peanut sauce

August 24th - 'The Silmarillion' and 'The Hobbit' added to fiction There are new photos in pictures

July 28th - Chocolate listings updated and a recipe for Choc, fruit and nut cookies added. 'The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook' added to the bookstore Pamela has started a new Bravenet message board

July 16th - the message board is going to be discontinued. Lesley Dove has started a new Yahoo group for those who miss it. New members welcome also - Lesley's new group

June 30th - recipe for Stuffed Marrow Rings added. 'The Nanny Diaries' added to fiction and 'Vegetarian Cooking Without' added to the bookstore , Summer Solstice page updated with new photos.

June 11th - 'Atonement' and 'The Red Tent' added to fiction and a recipe for Wheat and sugar free banana and date cake added.

May 30th - recipe for Jam Roly Poly Pudding added and Summer Solstice page updated.

May 17th - new adult fiction page added.

May 16th - recipes for quiche or tart and Mushroom Gravy added.

April 29th - Added a new recipe for Banana Ice Lollies 'Baa Humbug - a sheep with a mind of his own' and 'I am a Star' are new in the kids bookstore and there are some new titles on divorce, death and self esteem in the love and growing up section

March 30th - The Easter page has some new photos. There is a new recipe for Singapore Vegan Noodles. 'Finding Fairies' and 'The Book of Wizard Craft' are new to the kids bookstore and there are a couple of new spiritual titles in the bookstore

March 4th - We have produced a vegan recipe booklet to be sold in aid of Willow's Animal Sanctuary - it has recipes from this site plus many other contributors including a Posh Nosh section from Herbivore Vegetarian Restaurant in Inverness. No longer available.

February 28th - The Easter has been updated with a new recipe - Little Orange Easter Cakes

February 18th - The Pictures page has been updated with photos and information on our recent trip to Willow's Animal Sanctuary. There is a new recipe for Guacamole with a photo in The kitchen

February 13th - We have updated the vegan kids room to reflect our further experience of vegan parenting. Carol Vorderman's Detox Diet video and book (vegan apart from honey) have been added to the bookstore

January 28th - 'The Little Book of Vegan Poems', 'The Organic Baby Book', 'RAW - the uncook book' and 'Nonna's Italian Kitchen' added to the bookstore

January 19th - New pictures of our trip to Herbivore in Inverness, added.

January 16th - The kitchen has been given a facelift and divided into sections - Soups , Sauces , Salads , Main Courses and Cakes and Puddings New recipes include no-cook, stir in pasta sauce and Mega Salad

 

2001 

December 28th - 'Yoga - the path to Holistic Health', 'The Health Promoting Cookbook', and 'Sprout Garden' added to the bookstore. Two recipes added to the Kitchen - Leek, Potato and Pea Soup, and Wheat Free, Low-Fat Apple Layer Cake

December 11th - Lycos have reviewed the Yule page and given it the highly recommended wagging dogs tail here

December 6th - Liz Cook's vegan nutrition wallchart added to the bookstore

November 20th - some new books in the bookstore - 'The Millennium Cookbook', 'The New Vegan Cookbook', 'Have Yourself a Very Vegan Christmas', 'The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children' and 'An Indigo Celebration'.

November 5th - three festive recipes added to the Yule page - Cashew Nut Roast, Cranberry, Orange and Ginger Sauce and Chocolate Yule Log Cake

October 24th - 'No Matter What' - a children's book about unconditional love added to kidsbookstore

October 16th - some new autumnal recipes added - Peppery pumpkin soup , Sweet butternut casserole , baked potatoes and garlic bread

October 1st - some new childrens' books in the kids bookstore - Oliver's Fruit Salad, The Little Angel, Brother Earth Sister Sky, Grace and Family and The Rainbow Bear.

August 31st - Apples for Health have reviewed the kitchen section of the site here

August 21st - The Autumn edition of The Vegan News has reviewed our site!

August 18th - pictures from our holiday on the West Coast added. There is a new recipe from Lynn in the kitchen - Cornish pasties. New books in the bookstore - 'Practical Reiki', 'Crystal Healing' and 'Many Lives, Many Masters' and 'The Little White Horse' is new to kids books. White Cow Wood cairn page added to Earth room

August 5th - The Earth Room has been divided up into sections - Avebury , Stonehenge , Silbury hill and West Kennet , Glastonbury , Cumbria , Daviot and Parkhouse

July 27th - more pictures added . There are two new recipes from Carol in the kitchen - minestrone soup and banana shake. A new book in the bookstore - 'The Indigo Children - the new kids are here' and a link to the accompanying website in links.

June 19th - Recent pictures page added. Kids bookstore divided into sections - veg , spirituality , love and growing up , animals , feminism , Dr. Seuss , environment and misc.

June 8th - index of all printable recipes from our food pages added. There are separate links to each printable page by all the recipes too (in kitchen, chocolate and Yule/Christmas).

May 27th - banners page and a furry friends page added.

May 25th - The Bookstore has seven new items - Joanne Stepaniak's 'Uncheese Cookbook', 'The Voluptuous Vegan', 'Great, Good Desserts', 'Vegan - the New Ethics of Eating' by Erik Marcus, 'Animal Ingredients A-Z', 'Becoming Vegan' and a motivational audio book from Wayne Dyer. There is also a new title in the kids bookstore - 'Peaceful Kingdom' - a book of true stories about animals. There are a couple of new pictures in the vegan kids room. There is a new list of vegan groups in the UK on the support page.

April 28th - the front page has been simplified and the webrings given their own page. There are new recipes from Catriona in the kitchen - vegan burger, caramel slices and ginger and macadamia fingers. There is also a new recipe in the chocolate room for chocolate bubble bath - please don't eat it!! There is a new links page of sites suitable for children and teens - kids links and many new links in the main links section

March 29th - Inspired by the fact that spring is here and we can start planting our veggie seeds (well some of them) we have added a gardening section to the Bookstore with some of our favourite gardening and nature books. Also added a new cookery book by Jane Sen who is head chef at the Bristol Cancer Help Centre and a new parenting title too. There are also some new links - two Dutch vegan sites in the main links page and a link to information on Plamil's booklet about vegan children in the Vegan Kid's Room.

March 12th - added a Support Area listing vegan support and contact groups, message boards and email groups.

March 9th - Added a new Vegan Easter page

February 9th - added a Dr. Seuss section to the kids' bookstore with 'the Lorax', 'the Sneetches' and 'Horton the elephant' books.

February 7th - added a pizza recipe to the kitchen and a link to vegweb's recipe for 'Heart Attack Chocolate Donuts' to the Chocolate Room.

January 29th - Sandra's versatile fruit loaf added to the kitchen.

January 25th - well it's Burns night here in Scotland (birthday of the Scottish poet Robert Burns) - we shall be dining on vegan haggis, neeps and tatties!! A great honour has been bestowed on us today - we are the site of the week at the Vegan Village - this link will now take you to the current site of the week.

January 15th - links page updated and a couple of new quotes added to the celebrity dressing room. Also tidied up the front page a little.

January 13th - the kids' books section has been categorised and lots of new books added (and some removed). Gems include some feminist fairy tales, a reworking of the Red Riding Hood story - 'The small, good wolf', Harriet Tubman as a child and a lovely book on breast feeding for small children.

January 7th and 8th - new books added to vegan bookstore parenting, cooking and spiritual sections.

January 6th - some new recipes added to the kitchen. Also added section links for ease of navigation to the kitchen, chocolate and bookstore.

January 3rd and 4th - new counters added to chocolate, kitchen, books and vegan kid's room - no surprise to see that the chocolate room is by far the most popular section of the site!!
